All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

NOTE- Aubrey requires a home with a securely fenced yard.  She would not do well with young children because of her fears.  Aubrey has some separation anxiety so an apartment or townhome wouldn't be ideal.

Aubrey is a little girl who, in her so far short life, has not met with very nice people. We are helping her learn that humans will not hit her and her foster is showing her what love looks like. To Aubrey, being with nice humans is an amazement, and one she is trying hard to get used to. Every day she is now met with gentleness and she is findng out how very nice that is. Her foster can tell it all best. "She is starting to come out of her shell a little bit every hour.  She seems to be especially frightened of the house, as if she never was in one before.  Or MORE likely, she was beaten inside a home.  She still hesitates coming up and down the 3-4 steps to potty, but mostly back into the house. She doesn't walk freely thru the house; hesitates at every threshold and room, and then runs back into the sunroom to a safe corner when approached or even if i look at her.  She was ok (hiding) in or beside her crate when I was home Sat and Sun. She seems in good health, no skin issues, good weight, teeth good. Once she gets rid of her fright, she should be good on a leash.  She currently follows me around the yard with leash attached but not held; she is a "pancake" dog, so 100% of the time when you reach your hand to her, she cringes and pancakes.  If you reach for her, she will sometimes shy away but sometimes she will roll over on her belly for belly rubs. My heart goes out to this little one, and what she must have gone through to be so frightened. She started to show some playfulness yesterday evening with my dogs, so i think she will be a wonderful dog once she trusts people.  She will need a very special adopter that is patient and willing to work with  her over the next weeks, months, or even years to make her feel safe.
I think her having another dog in the house would be a plus. also she should not be left alone more than a few hours since she has some anxiety while left alone.  She sleeps quiety in her bed at night."   There is so much that is good in this small dog. She has just been knocked down so many times. If you want a sweetheart who will blossom even while you watch, think about giving your heart and love to Aubrey. She will pay you back with every breath she takes, forever and ever.
