Learn more about the American Foxhound.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Scout is a young, happy, gorgeous hound mix. He is full of life and love to give to you. He just celebrated his first birthday and is about 65lbs. He is a strong sturdy boy and very intelligent. He has already learned many commands/ tricks from his foster Mom and amazes her at how quick and eager he is to learn more. Here is what she has to say about him...
“Scout is a big love bug who indulges in his scratches and is super soft! He looks forward to his daily games of fetch and his free time to follow his nose. He is housetrained, enjoys the water, and loves riding in the car to explore new hikes or get his chew treats from PetSmart! He is always very excited to meet new people,  and enjoys playing with other medium to large, energetic puppy pals! If the cats are up to it, he’s happy to play with them as well. His tail is always wagging. He’s a super friendly dog.” Scout truly deserves a great home with some space to run and play. He will need a high fence and a more rural environment. With the right guidance Scout is well mannered and makes an excellent companion. His foster Mom is hoping for someone with some large puppy training experience. However, anyone who is willing to make the commitment to train him, be patient, and give Scout some extra TLC would be perfect as well! He will give back 100 fold all of the care that someone puts in with his love!

Note from his foster:  Scout is going to need a yard with a high fence.  Also, due to his size and boisterous behavior, Scout will not be placed in a home with young children.
