All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

We think Duke deserves a break. He has had over a decade of abuse, only interrupted by periods of abandonment at the hands of humans. Yet, he is still so sweet. Mother Nature has thrown him some punches during his trail of tears, too. He has become partially blind and because there was no food for so long, he is very underweight.  He needs to put on 10 to 15 pounds.  He deserves love and kindness at last. He has waited for gentle caring hands for so long. Perhaps you are to be the one who will wrap your arms around him and tell him it will be all right now.
We would like you to hear directly from his foster: "Duke has some weakness in his hind legs but can scale a baby gate with no problem and climb onto a 40inch tall bed using doggie steps.   He is mostly blind, so needs physical guidance in and outside of the house, especially at night.  When he walks, he sometimes touches my leg so he knows I'm there. He should be on a leash or watched at all times while in the yard.  He may try to climb a chain link fence or dig out.  Duke doesn't mind my dogs or cats, but because he can't see he doesn't interact with them.  I don't know how he'd do with a dog in his face, or with children.   When he first arrived, he slept constantly because he was so exhausted from all the neglect.  He is such a sweet, loving boy and as the days progress, he gets more playful."
Special note: Duke should not go to a home where he has to climb stairs or  there is a potential for him to fall down the stairs. 2 or 3 steps out into the backyard he can manage.
