Nico is a unique dog to say the least! His DNA Wisdom Panel found him to be 59% border collie, with his mother most likely to be 100% pure border collie. He certainly stays true to this breed for sure!  He loves to be busy, or have a job as they call it, by running around the yard and watching everything that moves. He actively plays with our other foster dog, and they can play for hours. He will herd young ones, so no children under 10 for him, because he will lean into them until they go in the direction he wants. Coonhound is 18% of his DNA, which explains his ability to track and follow a scent in our yard. Once he catches the scent of a fox or groundhog, he will bark, but not continuously. If you pretend to howl, he will "sing" along with you-and that is when you hear his distant hound relatives.

Nico is one of the smartest dogs our foster family has ever had. He learned to be house broken in a few days, and knows several commands. He will go in his kennel when told to do so. This is NOT a crate- it is much larger to accommodate his long legs when he stands up. He has good recall-especially if you have a treat! Nico is working on leash walking and is improving every day. Even though he is 72 pounds, he will try to climb up in your lap to get some love. He came in 33% underweight,
