Scout needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping her get a new start?

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

Scout may be an older girl, but you'd never know it to see her out on a walk, playing in the yard, or just chilling. She is healthy, happy, and ready to be the most grateful of dogs for a chance at a home. There is simply nothing like the wisdom, loyalty, and deep, deep love of a senior dog. They have known life, they are ready of a somewhat quieter day, wanting to watch the sunsets with you, greet the sunrises with the joy of another happy day, ready to give you their heart and soul. Scout's owner has become ill and can no longer care for her. She is a very friendly dog, very gentle, too. How perfect she would be around your children, older folks, other dogs, really, anyone or anything. She loves to be with people and is so happy to lean her head against your leg and look up into your eyes, trying so hard to say "thank you for coming for me, for being there." If you like to go for walks with your dog, Scout will be right there as soon as you get out the leash. She absolutely LOVES walks. She would follow you anywhere. Scout is looking for her BFF... and will need a fenced yard and she needs visits to the yard often... Scout does NOT need to be crated..

MORE ON SCOUT FROM HER CAREGIVER, WHO KNOWS HER BEST: She seems like she likes everyone.  I have not seen Scout have any problems with other animals or people. Her health seems very good. Her coat is shiny, and I have not seen any health problems at all. She is really gentle. She's a pretty big girl (maybe 70 lbs?), but I can walk her with 2 fingers on the leash! She really tries to hold it until she is outside, so it seems like she is housetrained. I haven't seen Scout have any problems with other dogs; she even seems good around cats.

SPECIAL UPDATE FOR YOU ON SCOUT FROM HER FOSTER:Scout has been with our full pet (cat,rabbitsx2, another lab) household for over a month. She is excellent with all creatures, respectful, adaptable, and loving. She is great with kids of all ages. No vices. No jumping. Great indoors, even for 8 hrs. We do not crate and she should NOT be crated - she simply does not need that. It would be a disservice to her beautiful nature. Very smart, educable, and perceptive. she knows what you are thinking, and she is ahead of you. She really wants to please and be accepted, and deep down I feel she needs a person to be her BFF, she wants to bond with you.  We are very active, and hike/run/get outdoors a lot. She loves it. I do not feel she acts her age. she never flags even on hikes over 6 miles, and walks in tandem on the same leash with other dogs as a matter of course. She has no issues.  A best case scenario for her is a person or couple that are extremely close with her, -she is looking for soul mates. A fenced yard is a plus, or someone to take her out regularly. Exercise is good for her body and mind, but she does not demand or require lots of it. She is very happy to just be with you, whatever you are doing. Although activity is very good for her and she takes well to it in every respect, she is also fine just hanging out. Never hyper, or needy. Whatever you do, just include her in. Watching a movie, hiking, swimming, or just having family about. She is all about you, and she is tremendous!
