Please Note: This animal is listed as a courtesy to another organization. Please be sure to contact the foster/caretaker for more information about him.

All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.

You say this sweet German shepherd looks rather thin? You might say so. Astro came to us weighing in at about 50lbs. Hi natural weight should be around 90 lbs. Sadly, Astro was on speaking terms with starvation, having been abandoned to fend for himself. There's a great big beautiful boy hiding in that thin body. Now he's gettiing good groceries and putting on much needed pounds. He's also found that humans can fill his food bowl, which makes them VERY special for Astro. He loves people and is ready to gift you with that legendary German shepherd loyalty. He is also a graduate of the famous cell dog program, where dogs are given intensive training for months under professional supervision so that they can become the very best family dogs possible. He learned to be house broken and has been taught many commands, both verbal and nonverbal. He has been crate trained, obedience trained and socialized. Graduates of this program are exceptional dogs in every way.

A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER: His behavior is very mild and even took food from our hands very gently. He should be fed away from other animals, however, as he wants all his food for himself. Good with cats, too. He is extra smart. Astro is very active and is always ready to go, play, you name it . He loves the family, kids and (if possible) another dog around. A busy family life would be a great match for him. He is a people dog and wants to be with you as much as possible, he loves to follow me around everywhere or just be in the same room with me.

NOTE: Astro will require a fenced yard and we prefer that he go with another dog.

If you are interested in the faithful Astro, please submit an application on  line
