All of the animals posted on our site have been temperament tested. While not all are in the immediate area, once we have processed and approved your application, we will move the dog to our adoptive area for you to meet, greet and hopefully adopt. Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.
About Poodle Patches | |
|
|
Little Patches came out of a hoarding situation where he was one of 40 dogs. He is a very shy dog. He will require a lot of patience because he doesn’t accept strangers very well. He is not at all aggressive, but he will bark at strangers. Once he does accept you, he will follow you everywhere and he loves to sleep on the bed with his foster Mom. Initially, he will need to be kept on a short lead at all times until he gets used to his new family, because he likes to hide when he is nervous. Once he has adjusted to his new home, that will no longer be needed. He is a sweetheart and just needs lots of love and assurance that he is now safe.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU FROM HIS FOSTER:
Patches really loves having other dogs to play with. Patches is totally fine with cats and can be trusted not to go after them or bother anything, really. I don't crate Patches at all and he does fine in the house. Very well house-trained. He is a sweet dog for the most part. Patches will mouth me quite a lot when he's happy to see me, but it is not mean, just excitement. Patches also will need adults only because he startles and scares so easily. He's come a long way since I've had him and he is really glad to see me when I get home and he lets me pet him and he lays on me sometimes. He just needs stability, calm and a patient person. At the beginning, he also needs a fenced yard because he will hide. Also for the first several weeks, he needs to be kept on a lead so that one can always get to him.
