Have you ever wondered what a Rottweiler would look like if he came in golden? Now you have your answer. Beautiful! With the build and heart of a Rottie, our Purvis has inherited that muscled body, strength and sturdy build from his dad. His beautiful golden coat comes from mom. With all this going for him, you would think that he would be cared for as a wonder, but no. He has been put in a barn for his whole short life and never known what it is like to be loved. Never felt a gentle hand, or had enough to eat, or a soft place to sleep. But we have found inside that neglected body there lives the legendary loyal heart of a true Rottie, just waiting to be let out. His foster says he is "a big teddy bear of a dog". He is just looking for someone to care for him and then , stand back! Watch him blossom into a loyal, loving big boy , who will walk by your side for all of his life. He is already good on a leash, so that's a great start. Imagine out walking with him and telling people "Yes, he's my Golden Rottie, never seen one before, have you?" His foster also says
. " Not aggressive but just wary . This boy would do great in a home that has a lot of patience and desire to help this boy come out of his shell." Purvis is a great dog ready to happen.
Purvis must have a tall fence and a canine friend. He is only comfortable with another dog around. His foster says "his real joy and self comes out when he is with this furry friends. He loves other dogs and will play like a pup." He has been hurt by people in the past, so he is going to need time to make sure you, too, aren't going to hit him. Time and patience will help him see that it's safe to give you his heart.
A special note: Purvis MUST go to a home with at least one other playful dog. His foster says... He's very friendly, playful, smart and for a potential adopter a 2 yo "puppy". He's adjusted rapidly to in-home life. Working with him for basic training. He has never had the opportunity to belong to someone and he is so thrilled when somone pays attention to him that he has separation anxiety when that person leaves. He should have a kennel in the house where he can go to when his people are gone until he learns that , yes, they will come back again and will still love him. He plays well with others and as indicated MUST have other dog/dogs in the family to help him along. He will come when called and knows his name. He is such a beautiful boy, he just needs someone who understands him.
A SPECIAL NOTE TO YOU STRAIGHT FROM HIS FOSTER: Purvis spent his life in a barn without socialization. He is very apprehensive. Not aggressive but just wary of everyone and everything. He walks nicely on a leash but will bolt given the opportunity and he is good at finding that spot where he can escape. This boy would do great in a home that has a lot of patience and desire to help this boy come out of his shell. He is like a big teddy bear. Purvis was owner surrendered from a breeder. He lived in a barn for 2 yrs with his father. He is cautious when meeting new people. He is an escape artist so you have to be careful as he will find whatever way he can to get out of where he is. He is housebroken. A 5' to 6' fence is recommended and he should not be left unattended when outside. He will take some time and patience but has great potential. He loves other calmer dogs, although he likes to play with them he does not like to play rough.
