Animal Success Stories
We love getting updates from our adopters! This page is a collection of the photos and stories sent to us. As our website restricts us to only one photo and story for each dog, we have created a photo gallery here -

Basco

Wanted to give you an update and pictures on Basco, now named Walter.

His first couple of weeks were rough. He was pretty sick to the point the vet though he might be in organ failure but she was able to treat the infection and get him on the road to health. Then he needed a tooth pulled because it was infected.

At some point during all of that he realized we loved him and he finally left the closet he hid in next to our vacuum cleaner. He then moved under our bed and I woke up to his fuzzy head sticking up above the mattress each morning. Eventually he left the bedroom and came downstairs. Now he is my shadow always this.close to me. He's so scared of going out the door though he's made amazing progress with housebreaking.

He's amazing and I can't believe someone else wouldn't want him. My 3 year old tells us, "I love my Walter." We do, too.

Bella Donna

Just thought you would like to see Bella enjoying her first puppy sundae from Brewster Ice Cream stand. I just love her and so does everyone she meets.

Bronte

It has been a year since Bruce came into our lives, I just wanted to reach out with a couple updates on Bruce and our family.

We've taken Bruce to the beach (where he swam) and on shorter hikes in the woods and we've found that he definitely likes creek walks best of all. He still loves cheese, but brie is a particular favorite. We have also found that he is quite resourceful & agile when no one else is home. In our apartment, he would leap onto our dining room table to push things off of our high kitchen counter so that he could then reach them from the kitchen! We soon learned to keep everything edible in cabinets.

Bruce has also completed not only Basic Obedience, but passed his Canine Good Citizenship test! He does great in the car, so he comes with us to all of the family gatherings and everyone loves him. My dad is our default babysitter and he likes Bruce so much that he is now thinking about getting a dog. (I suggested he look at some senior adoptees.) My in-laws' dog Gracie (another RORR success story) is his favorite playmate. I have attached a photo of them together from a ski weekend in January.

Bruce still has some separation anxiety so he now attends doggie day care at least once a week. Not only does it give him plenty of exercise, but his socialization skills have improved immensely! He still has some "dog-park police" tendencies but now seems to be interested in playing as well.

We also did one of the genetic tests on him and Bruce is a true American Mutt! They had to go back to his great-grandparents to find a purebred and even then they could only identify four of the eight! He is part Lab, Boxer, Amer. Staffordshire Terrier and Cocker Spaniel!

Bruce is an amazing dog and we are so grateful to have found him. We get so many complements on how handsome and well-mannered he is; everyone at the vet loves him because he is so chill about being touched. He loves everybody and is generally calm when we're out and about. But when it just us at home, he is the goofiest dog! If he thinks he hasn't been getting enough attention, he'll quietly come up to one of us and lay down in his "Pet Me" position. Or if we've stopped petting, he'll gently rest his paw on our knee as if to say "Hey, you forgot about me!". He'll also talk to us sometimes but we're still working on our translating skills.

We love Bruce and we are so happy that he is part of our family. Thank you again for all of your help!
