Jack

Jack (aka Kojack), the love of our lives came into our home late one snowy evening after a dear friend asked if I could take in a foster dog. I arrived at the kennel to find an extremely large white dog in the large paddock and thinking to myself how will he ever fit into my car. Well he did fit and made himself at home taking up the entire back seat. He settled in immediately and I fell in love with him. My goddaughter would fall asleep on Jack watching Disney channel and Jack would not move until she woke up. He loved everyone, dogs, children and adults. He was my gentle giant who did not bark. We lost Jack to cancer, an insulinoma of the pancreas, on 03/05/2010. He will always be a deeply loved and treasured member of our family and we miss him dearly.

Jackson Lab
Sometimes when these seniors finally get to us their bodies have just given up as they are so lost emotionally. That is the case with Jackson! He arrived and after a lot of testing and vet visits, he was considered hospice. His foster provided him with love, care and comfort during his last few weeks with us. We said goodbye to this dear boy and wished him well. His partner and friend Libby is still in hope of a home and grieving.

Jade

Sweet Jade, a 10-13 year old senior, who clearly had a hard life was rescued on May 25, 2011 from the pound. She had arrived there as a stray. On June 4th, Jade was making her way to one of our fosters. During transport, she became extremely ill. We were unable to save her and said goodbye to her in the afternoon. Many thanks Elizabeth and Debbie, and all others that were involved with helping her. Thank you to the vet staff at Monticello and the Emergency Vet Clinic in Charlottesville. May you now feel peace and comfort dear Jade.

Jim Dandy
Jim Dandy was at the animal shelter for a long time...waiting for someone to save him. He went kennel crazy. If the public does not adopt, the shelters have no other choice. RIP Jim Dandy.

Jolly Wally
Wally's gone He had not eaten since Tue morning. He was drooling and vomiting up yellow bile. I tried everything..I took him to the vets last night He received meds for nausea Dr Morgan suspected maybe a tumor in the brain but hoped it was old dog nystagimus. He had problems with his gait. This came on suddenly He was a pretty happy fella until Wed morning. He was just throwing up ,even with three doses of the antiemetic meds, he would not even eat boiled chicken.I did not want my sweet boy to suffer. He crossed the bridge this afternoon...My heart is broken.I laid on the floor with him at the vets for about 30 min I massaged his back and neck. I told him how much he was loved and what a good boy he was. When the tech came in to insert the catheter he kissed her face. I think he knew.I held him in my arms as he left this world headed for another where he will be pain free. He was an older dog , his owner became homeless. He had to have been loved enough that he was not skinny when AC picked him up, his owner had him neutered, he had no issues. I hope somehow his past owner will know that Wally was loved til the end. He had good food, a soft bed and his foster sister (a little GSD) worried over him all the time. I worried over him all the time. My old man will be missed He will be cremated with other dogs and his ashes scattered over an orchard. Run free my little grumpy old man. Hunt with the hounds and swim with the retrievers.........I miss you so. I am glad I pulled him He did not leave this world laying on a cement run in a noisy animal control center.
